The CD booklet contains only a brief generic biographical note on Arvo
Pärt in English and French in the European edition (Catalogue #7243 5
45338 2 2) and English only in the North American edition (Catalogue
#7243 5 45338 2 2). Original performers and recording dates are given
for all the tracks. This compilation can’t really be recommended except
to completists or to someone who is seeking a superficial introduction
only to Arvo Pärt’s music. The “rush-to-market” packaging nature of
this set is indicated by the printing of the incorrect birth year for
Pärt on the back cover of the European release (1933, instead of the
correct year of 1935) which was at least corrected by the time of the
North American release.
