Tõnu Kaljuste and Arvo Pärt prior to the Estonian premiere performance
of Orient & Occident on April 7, 2001.
The opening and closing moments from the Estonian premiere are also
seen, but a complete performance of the work is not shown.

Orient & Occident
was commissioned by the Berliner Festspiele 2000 (The Berlin Festival
2000) and was premiered in Berlin, Germany on September 30, 2000 by its
dedicatees, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Saulius
Sondeckis. The Estonian premiere took place on April 7, 2001 and was by
the performers as documented in this film.
